Description

The Mamluk Sultan Qutuz and his commander Baybars defeated the Mongol army at Ain Jalut (Spring of Goliath) in Palestine. This was the first major defeat inflicted on the Mongols, halting their seemingly unstoppable westward expansion and saving Egypt, the Hijaz, and the heartlands of the Muslim world from destruction. It is considered one of the most decisive battles in world history.
