Hadrat Shaykh Abd al-Wahid al-Tameemi (rahmatullahi alayh) was a Baghdadi scholar and saint who flourished in the 4th century AH — the golden age of Sufi masters in Iraq. He was raised in an era when Baghdad was the world centre of Islamic scholarship and spirituality, and he became one of its distinguished inheritors. — Baghdad (region)

“He narrated the hadith of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): 'The Euphrates will uncover a mountain of gold, and the people will fight over it. Out of every hundred, ninety-nine will be killed... O my son, if you reach that time, do not be among those who fight over it.' (Narrated from Abu Hurayrah — radi Allahu anhu — through the chain recorded in the seerat.)”— Hadrat Abd al-Wahid al-Tameemi (rahmatullahi alayh), from his chain of transmission

Received spiritual training in the school of Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Shibli (rahmatullahi alayh)
He came into the blessed company of Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Shibli (rahmatullahi alayh) — who was himself the chosen Khalifah of Hadrat Imam Junayd al-Baghdadi (rahmatullahi alayh). Under the guidance of this great master, he undertook the complete journey of spiritual purification and attained the highest stations of nearness to Allah Almighty.
Appointed as the Khalifah and 13th link of the blessed Qadiriyyah Ridawiyyah 'Attariyyah spiritual chain
After completing his spiritual journey under the guidance of Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Shibli (rahmatullahi alayh), he was bestowed with Khilafat — the authority to guide others on the path. He thus became the 13th Shaykh of the blessed spiritual order, holding aloft the flame of guidance that had been lit by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and passed through the greatest saints of every age.
Transmitted the spiritual trust to Hadrat Abu al-Faraj al-Tartusi (rahmatullahi alayh)
Just as he had received the sacred spiritual trust from his own murshid, he in turn bestowed it upon Hadrat Abu al-Faraj al-Tartusi (rahmatullahi alayh), who became the 14th link in the chain. Through this transmission, the spiritual light continued its journey through the generations of Qadiri masters, eventually reaching Hadrat Ghaus-e-Azam Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani (rahmatullahi alayh) — the greatest saint of all — and from him to Ameer-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat in our own era.

- ♥He embodied sincerity (ikhlas) to such a degree that the poets of the Qadiri order praised him specifically with the words 'Abd-i-Wahid be-riya' — 'Abd al-Wahid the sincere, free of show' — meaning his worship and spiritual life were untainted by any trace of ostentation. True sincerity is the rarest of all spiritual qualities, and it was his defining characteristic.
