Hadrat
Abdul Qadir al-Jilani
شَيْخ عَبْد ٱلْقَادِر ٱلْجِيلَانِي
(Rahimahullah) رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ
1 Ramadan 470 AH
11 Rabi al-Thani 561 AH
From birth, refrained from nursing during daylight hours, only taking milk after sunset — this was confirmed by his mother as one of the earliest signs of his saintliness. Lips uttered 'Allah Allah' at birth. 1,100 male infants born that same day reportedly became saints. His birth was foreseen by the great saints of the era — Jilaan (Gilan, near Baghdad, present-day Iran)
- ◈At age five, recited 18 Quranic portions from memory
- ◈Completed the entire Quran recitation nightly for fifteen years
- ◈Performed one thousand daily voluntary prayers
- ◈Taught thirteen different Islamic sciences including Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, and Arabic grammar
- ◈Over 500 non-Muslims embraced Islam through his interventions
- ◈More than 100,000 sinners and wrongdoers reportedly repented through his influence

Journeyed to Baghdad at age 10 in 480 AH to pursue Islamic education
Arrived in Baghdad during the era of great scholarly activity. His mother sewed gold coins into his coat for his provision and told him to always speak the truth
Studied under renowned scholars of Baghdad
Studied under Abu Al-Wafa Ali Ibn Aqeel, Abu Sa'eed Mubarak Makhzoomi, Abu Khair Hammad bin Muslim Al Dabbas, and Abu Zakariyya Yahya Al Tibrayzi. Received spiritual succession (Khilafat) from Abu Sa'eed Mubarak Makhzoomi
Spent 25 years in the jungles and deserts of Iraq in intense spiritual retreat
Endured severe hardships, hunger, thirst and exposure. Overcame trials through Quranic recitation and patience. Emerged as the most spiritually advanced saint of his era
Began public teaching and lecturing in Baghdad in 521 AH
Up to 70,000 people attended his public lectures. 400 scribes with inkpots would record his discourses. Taught 13 different Islamic sciences including Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, and Arabic grammar
Led guidance of the Muslim Ummah for 40 years (521-561 AH)
His madrasah in Baghdad became the centre of Islamic learning. Over 500 non-Muslims embraced Islam through his teachings and more than 100,000 sinners repented through his influence

Entire family — grandfather, father, mother, aunt, brother, and sons — were known for piety and righteousness

91 years old
“Responded to troubles with patience and prayer rather than complaint — credited Surah Alam Nashrah (verses 5-6) about ease accompanying difficulty”
“This world is like a shadow — if you chase it, you will never catch it; but if you turn your back to it, it has no choice but to follow you”
“The hardships I faced were so severe that had they fallen upon mountains, the mountains would have crumbled. But through Quranic recitation, every hardship was overcome”
- 🌟Hadrat Ghaus-e-Azam (rahimahullah) memorised 18 parts of the Quran by the time he was just 5 years old!
- 🌟He was so dedicated to worship that he recited the entire Quran EVERY SINGLE NIGHT for 15 years!
- 🌟Over 500 people who didn't know about Islam became Muslim because of his kindness and teachings!
- 🌟His family was so special — he was a descendant of both Hadrat Imam Hasan (radi Allahu anhu) AND Hadrat Imam Husayn (radi Allahu anhu)!
- 🌟He wrote many famous books that people still read today, hundreds of years later!
