Hadrat
Abdul Qadir al-Jilani
شَيْخ عَبْد ٱلْقَادِر ٱلْجِيلَانِي
(Rahimahullah) رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ
1 Ramadan 470 AH
11 Rabi al-Thani 561 AH
From birth, refrained from nursing during daylight hours, only taking milk after sunset — this was confirmed by his mother as one of the earliest signs of his saintliness. Lips uttered 'Allah Allah' at birth. 1,100 male infants born that same day reportedly became saints. His birth was foreseen by the great saints of the era — Jilaan (Gilan, near Baghdad, present-day Iran)
- ◈Allah Almighty loves him and has announced this love to the inhabitants of the heavens and earth — as established from Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3209, regarding those whom Allah loves

- ◈Hadrat Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa'i (rahimahullah) bore witness: 'The river of Islamic law is in his right hand, and the river of spiritual reality is in his left hand. Drink from whichever you wish. There is no second to him in this age.' He also said: 'Regretful is the one who does not see Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani'

- ◈A pious predecessor was granted a vision of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a dream and was given glad tidings three times: 'Those whose shaykh is Abdul Qadir Jilani will die upon the Quran and Sunnah'

- ◈Shaykh Abd al-Haqq al-Dehlawi (rahimahullah) states: 'None of the noble saints are comparable to Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani in relation to saintly marvels. Some pious predecessors have even stated: The saintly marvels of Shaykh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani are like a chain of pearls, for when it breaks, the pearls drop one after the other. Hence, his saintly marvels are innumerable.'

- ◈The widespread acceptance of Hadrat Ghaus-e-Azam (rahimahullah) across creation — centuries after his departure — is proof of him being beloved to Allah Almighty. Hearts naturally incline towards him as a sign of his love in the Divine court

- ◈Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Na'imi (rahimahullah) states: 'People naturally utter the supplicatory words rahimahullah or radi Allahu anhu for a saint, and people's hearts instinctively incline towards such a person. The natural attraction of hearts is a sign of them being beloved in the court of Allah Almighty.'

- ◈In a Hadith Qudsi in Sahih al-Bukhari, Allah Almighty states: 'Whoever bears enmity towards a saint of Mine, I declare war upon him' — making enmity towards Hadrat Ghaus-e-Azam (rahimahullah) among the gravest of dangers

- ◈Sayyiduna Shaykh Husayn b. Ahmad Kawwaz al-Bisati (rahimahullah) states: He made du'a to see Abu Salih al-Mu'adhin (rahimahullah) and saw him in good state. He asked him, 'O Abu Salih! How are you?' He replied, 'O Abu al-Hasan! If I had not sent abundant salawat upon the beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I would have been destroyed.'

Hadrat Ghaus-e-Azam (rahimahullah) accepted his repentance and made du'a for him, and the man was restored to the correct Ahl-e-Sunnat belief. He then repented publicly before the Islamic brothers, declared his sincerity and testified that the beliefs of Ahl al-Sunnah are true
