Birth
A renowned Tabi'i. When Sayyiduna Ali b. Abi Talib (radi Allahu anhu) observed people making mistakes in speaking Arabic, he compiled some basic rules and handed them to Abu Aswad al-Du'ali to expand on. He is thus considered a founder of Arabic grammar.
