Biography
Sayyid Makhdoom Ashraf Jahangir Simnani رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه — A Great Sufi Saint of India Sayyid Makhdoom Ashraf Jahangir Simnani رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was born in 707 AH (1307 CE) in the city of Simnan, Persia. He was a Sayyid, a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through the lineage of Imam Husayn رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ. From a young age, he showed extraordinary spiritual inclination and devotion to worship. He received his spiritual training under several eminent masters of tasawwuf and became a khalifah (deputy) of the Chishti Sufi order. He was also associated with the Qadiri, Suhrawardi, and Kubrawi orders, making him a master of multiple spiritual paths. He later migrated from Persia to India, where he settled in Kichaucha Sharif in the district of Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. There he established a great centre of spiritual learning and guidance, attracting seekers from across the subcontinent. He authored numerous works on tasawwuf and the Shariah, including Lataif-e-Ashrafi, a celebrated collection of his spiritual discourses and teachings. His approach to Sufism was deeply rooted in adherence to the Quran and Sunnah, and he emphasized love for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ as the foundation of spiritual life. Sayyid Ashraf Jahangir Simnani رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه passed away on 28th Muharram 808 AH. His blessed shrine in Kichaucha Sharif remains a major centre of devotion and is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year, especially during his annual Urs.
