  • Leader of the women of Paradise
  • Most truthful among people except her father
  • Matchless character as daughter, wife, and mother
  • Most generous among the people — often gave away all her food to the needy even if it meant going without herself
  • No unrelated man ever saw her, not even her shadow — on the Day of Judgment humanity will be ordered to lower their gazes before she crosses
  • Spending in the Way of Allah was her most beloved of deeds — referenced in Surah Al-Dahar (76:8-9)
  • Deeply modest and shy — simple nature from childhood
  • Inherited her father's wisdom, piety, and generosity
Fatima is a part of me; whoever angers her has angered me

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

Fatima is a piece of my body and a person who hurts Fatima in fact hurts me

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

My daughter Fatima is part of me. I dislike whatever she dislikes

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

Whenever she visited, he would seat her in his place — she was the first person he would meet after returning from a journey

About the Holy Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) treatment of Hadrat Fatimah (radi Allahu anha)

As a child rushed to aid the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when Qurayshi disbelievers placed camel entrails on his back during prayer

Nursed her father's wounds after Battle of Uhud — applied burnt palm mat ashes to stop the bleeding

Marriage to Hadrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) — 26th or 27th Safar, 2 AH — a union of great splendour blessed by Allah

  • Spent her days fasting and her nights standing in prayer before Allah
  • Even on her wedding night she spent the entire night in Salah with Hadrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu)
  • Personally milled wheat and barley for those in need, carried water to weaker neighbours
  • Despite having slaves she preferred doing her own work, deeply engaged in the remembrance of Allah
  • Multitasked while serving: ground mills, recited Quran, supervised children — sometimes fasted for extended periods without complaint
  • The Holy Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) advice on Tasbih: 'Before sleeping recite SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, and Allahu Akbar 34 times' — given when she requested help with housework
