Biography
Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Majah al-Qazwini (209-273 AH / 824-887 CE) was a medieval Islamic scholar and compiler of the Sunan Ibn Majah, the last of the six canonical hadith collections. Born in Qazwin (present-day Iran), he travelled widely across the Islamic world — to Iraq, the Hijaz, Egypt, and Syria — to study hadith. His Sunan contains approximately 4,341 hadiths and is valued for including hadiths not found in the other five collections.
