Imam Musa al-Kazim

Abu al-Hasan; also Abu Ibrahim
Born at the time of Fajr on a Monday. Abwa is the blessed resting place of Sayyidatuna Aminah (radi Allahu anha), the noble mother of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He is the 7th Shaykh of the Qadiriyyah Razawiyyah 'Attariyyah spiritual order. — Abwa — between Makkah and Madinah

- ◈His father, Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (rahmatullahi alayh), said of him: 'He is the best of my sons and a pearl from the pearls of Allah.'

- ◈He spent his nights in worship and his days in fasting — perpetually devoted to Allah Almighty.

- ◈He would seek out the poor of Madinah al-Munawwarah at night, delivering bags of money and food to them anonymously — never revealing himself as the benefactor.

- ◈His title Al-Kazim was earned through his extraordinary ability to restrain anger completely, always responding to provocation with forbearance and generosity.

- ◈He would present Salam first to anyone who came to meet him, offering the greeting before the visitor could speak — a mark of his humility and noble character.

Born at Abwa between Makkah and Madinah at Fajr time on a Monday
Born 7th Safar al-Muzaffar, 128 AH. Abwa is the blessed site of the resting place of Sayyidatuna Aminah (radi Allahu anha), the noble mother of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Appointed as the 7th Shaykh of the Qadiriyyah Razawiyyah 'Attariyyah spiritual order
He holds the 7th position in the blessed silsilah of the Qadiriyyah Razawiyyah 'Attariyyah, the spiritual chain that traces back to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Miracle — caused water to flow from desert sand
While travelling with a caravan towards Makkah, Hadrat Shaqiq Balkhi (rahmatullahi alayh) observed a young man of wheat-coloured complexion sitting alone, apart from the caravan. Believing him to be a poor person, Shaqiq approached him to offer food. The young man said: 'O Shaqiq! Truly, Allah Almighty provides sustenance to those who trust in Him.' Shaqiq was astonished — he had not told the young man his name. Later, seeing the man praying at a dried-up well, Shaqiq watched as the well overflowed with sweet water for him alone to drink — while remaining dry for all others. The young man then looked at the horizon, and Shaqiq saw him holding a piece of food in his hand without any apparent source. He later came to know this was Imam Musa Kazim (rahmatullahi alayh).
Miracle of kashf — knowledge of the name and inner thoughts of Shaqiq Balkhi
Hadrat Shaqiq Balkhi (rahmatullahi alayh) had not introduced himself to the young man he observed during the caravan journey. Yet the young man addressed him by name — 'O Shaqiq!' — and then recited exactly what was in his heart at that moment. This knowledge of the unseen and of what lay in the hearts of people was a manifest spiritual gift of Imam Musa Kazim (rahmatullahi alayh).
Imprisoned by the Abbasid ruler
He was unjustly imprisoned during the Abbasid caliphate and remained patient throughout his captivity, continuing his worship and devotion to Allah Almighty.
Martyrdom in imprisonment
He attained martyrdom while imprisoned, passing from this world as a prisoner of the Abbasid state. His patience throughout captivity was a testament to his title Al-Sabir.

- ✦During a caravan journey towards Makkah, Hadrat Shaqiq Balkhi (rahmatullahi alayh) observed him sitting alone apart from the caravan. On approaching, the young man immediately called Shaqiq by name — though they had never met. He then recited the exact thoughts in Shaqiq's heart. Later, Shaqiq watched as a dried-up well overflowed with sweet water when he prayed at it — water that no one else could access. He was then seen with food in his hand with no visible source. Shaqiq later confirmed this was Imam Musa Kazim (rahmatullahi alayh).
The Blessings of Imam Musa Kazim, p.3 — Maktaba tul Madina
- ✦Helped a poor man (Isa ibn Muhammad Mughith al-Qurashi) who at the age of 90 had fallen into 120 dinars of debt after locusts destroyed his entire crop. Imam Musa Kazim (rahmatullahi alayh) gave him 150 dinars — an additional 30 dinars beyond his debt — to allow him to restart his livelihood.

Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (rahmatullahi alayh)
His paternal lineage traces through Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (rahmatullahi alayh), Imam Muhammad Baaqir (rahmatullahi alayh), and Imam Zain al-Abidin (rahmatullahi alayh) to Imam Husain (radi Allahu anhu), the beloved grandson of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). His father declared him 'the best of my sons and a pearl from the pearls of Allah.'

- 🌟He used to go out at night secretly to bring bags of food and money to poor families in Madinah — he never told anyone it was him!
- 🌟His own father, Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (rahmatullahi alayh), said he was 'the best of my sons and a pearl from the pearls of Allah' — what a beautiful thing to say!
- 🌟He performed a miracle in the desert — there was no water anywhere, but Allah Almighty allowed him to make the sand turn into sweet, clean water!
- 🌟Whenever someone came to visit him, he would say Salam to them FIRST — before they even had a chance to greet him!
