Biography
Jalal al-Din Abu al-Fadl Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr al-Suyuti (849-911 AH / 1445-1505 CE) was an Egyptian Shafi'i polymath and one of the most prolific scholars in Islamic history, authoring over 500 works on hadith, tafsir, fiqh, history, and Arabic literature. He co-authored the renowned Tafsir al-Jalalayn and compiled Al-Jami al-Saghir (a collection of Prophetic hadiths). His breadth of scholarship earned him the title Mujaddid (Renewer) of the 9th Islamic century. He spent his later years in seclusion devoted to worship and writing.
