Hadrat Israfil (Alayhis Salam) is one of the four greatest archangels in Islam. He is entrusted by Allah with blowing the Trumpet (Sur) on the Day of Judgement. The first blow will cause all living beings to perish, and the second blow will resurrect all of creation for the Final Reckoning. According to hadith, he has been holding the Trumpet at the ready since his creation, his gaze fixed upon the Throne of Allah, awaiting the divine command. He is also associated with the delivery of divine inspiration to the hearts of the Prophets.
