Birth and naming on the instruction of Sayyiduna al-Ghawth al-Azam

His paternal grandmother placed the cloak of Sahib al-Barakat on his neck at birth, to be worn on the indication of Sayyiduna al-Ghawth al-Azam Shaykh Abd al-Qadir Jilani's (rahimahullah) instruction. He was named 'Al Ahmad' according to al-Ghawth al-Azam's direction

Acquired sacred and spiritual sciences from his father

He acquired the spiritual and sacred sciences from his noble father, Sayyiduna Shah Hamzah Ayni (rahimahullah) and attained khilafat (spiritual successorship) from him as well. His spiritual learning and instruction was attained directly from al-Ghawth al-Azam (rahimahullah)

Became custodian of Silsilah Barakatiyyah

After his father's demise, in accordance with family tradition, he assumed the custodianship of Silsilah Barakatiyyah, gracing it for 37 years until his passing

Compilation of A'yeen-e-Ahmadi encyclopaedia

He directed a group of his muridin, khulafa, scholars and notables to select books from the different sciences in the library of Sarkar-e-Marehrah and prepare a summary of each science. This resulted in the monumental A'yeen-e-Ahmadi — a 34 to 60-volume encyclopaedia covering all sciences and disciplines, comparable to the Fatawa Alamgiri of Aurangzeb's era but encompassing all sciences rather than only Fiqh

Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (rahimahullah) took bay'ah at his hands

Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (rahimahullah), the Imam of Ahl al-Sunnah, took bay'ah in the Qadiri spiritual order through Sayyiduna Sayyid Shah Al Rasul (rahimahullah) — one of Achay Miyan's khulafa — who stated: 'If my Lord asks me what have you brought, I will present Ahmad Raza.' Imam Ahmad Raza Khan visited Sitapur to consult the A'yeen-e-Ahmadi during a scholarly discussion with Mawlana Abd al-Qadir Badayuni, accepting a point from it with submission to his spiritual guides

  • His daily and nightly practices were a complete reflection of how a reflection of Sayyiduna al-Ghawth al-Azam (rahimahullah) should be. He would rise in the last part of the night, perform wudu and offer Tahajjud. He would remain immersed in reciting invocations and litanies. Before Fajr, he would go to the masjid, offer Tahiyyat al-Masjid and then (upon the entry of Fajr) offer the Sunnahs. After Fajr prayer in congregation, he would raise his hands supplicating for the success of the religion and forgiveness of the Muslims. He would then go to the khanqah and preoccupy himself in litanies and invocations until sunrise

  • After Zuhr prayer, he would immerse himself in recital of the holy Quran, then return to the khanqah to recite salawat upon the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After Asr he would recite tasbih. After Maghrib he would have a public session, listening to people's requests and comforting them. After Isha he would retire to the khanqah where he would spend his night in worship

📖
A'yeen-e-Ahmadi

His largest and most comprehensive work — a 34-volume (or according to one view, 60-volume) encyclopaedia covering all prevalent sciences and disciplines. Prepared according to his instruction by a group of his muridin, khulafa, scholars and notables. It contained many short and long treatises of the pious predecessors. Sayyiduna Aurangzeb Alamgir (rahimahullah) had the 'Fatawa Alamgiri' compiled — a group of scholars said that if any encyclopaedia surpassed it, it would be A'yeen-e-Ahmadi. Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (rahimahullah) visited Sitapur to consult the 'Aqaid volume of this work during a scholarly discussion
