Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Muhammad
(Radiyallahu Anha) رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهَا
? Jumada al-Thani 9 AH
The third daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
- ◈She resembled her older sister, Sayyidah Zaynab (radi Allahu anha). She is one of the two wives of Hadrat Uthman ibn Affan (radi Allahu anhu) — the only two daughters of any Prophet to be married to the same man — giving him the title Zul-Noorain (Possessor of Two Lights)

- ◈She did not have children with Hadrat Uthman (radi Allahu anhu), but she was patient, and her family is a family of patient individuals

- ◈Hadrat Umar b. al-Khattab (radi Allahu anhu) married Sayyidah Umm Kulthum (radi Allahu anha) to attain the virtue of maintaining lineage and relationship with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Every lineage and relationship will be severed on the Day of Judgement, except for my lineage and the relationship with me'

“Angel Jibril (peace be upon him) told me that Allah commanded me to wed my daughter Umm Kulthum to you (Uthman), upon the condition that you give the same dowry you gave to Ruqayyah and you treat her the same way you treated Ruqayyah”— the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

After the passing of Hadrat Ruqayyah (radi Allahu anha), the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her in marriage to Hadrat Uthman ibn Affan (radi Allahu anhu) by the command of Angel Jibril (peace be upon him), with the Mahr being the same as Hadrat Ruqayyah's (radi Allahu anha) and with the condition that she be treated likewise. There is no one else who has married two daughters of a Prophet — which is why Hadrat Uthman (radi Allahu anhu) is called Zul-Noorain (Possessor of Two Lights)
Hadrat Umar b. al-Khattab (radi Allahu anhu) informed Hadrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) of his desire to marry her, saying: 'O Ali! Wed your daughter to me because I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Every lineage and relationship will be severed on the Day of Judgement, except for my lineage and the relationship with me.' Hadrat Umar (radi Allahu anhu) married her to attain this virtue and gave 40,000 dirhams as mahr

Passed away in Sha'ban, 9 AH. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed her funeral prayer. Her shrine is located in Jannat al-Baqi
