Practical Fasting Tips
Eat Suhur (pre-dawn meal) as it contains blessings — do not skip it
Do not eat excessively at Suhur or Iftar; the enjoyment of fast lies in bearing hunger and thirst
Break your fast with dates or water, following the Sunnah
Avoid excessive sleeping during the day — a fasting person should stay awake to feel hunger and earn greater reward
Guard your tongue from backbiting, lying, and argumentation — the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) said if someone provokes you while fasting, say 'I am fasting'
Increase Quran recitation, Salawat upon the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam), and Dhikr throughout the day
Give charity generously — the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) was the most generous in Ramadan
Perform Taraweeh prayer (20 Rak'at) every night — it is Sunnat-ul-Mu'akkadah

* Odd nights — seek Laylat al-Qadr
The Last Ten Nights & Laylat al-Qadrلَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ
Laylat al-Qadr is an extremely blessed and sacred night. It is called Laylat al-Qadr because the commandments of the whole year are recorded in this night. The worship performed in this night has immense excellence — better than a thousand months (more than 83 years and 4 months). Angels descend in such great numbers that the earth is crowded with them. Each and every moment of this blessed night is full of peace that remains till dawn. Allah has granted this glorious night only to the Ummah of His Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam).
Search for Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th)
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) would tighten his belt, pray all night, and wake his family during the last ten days
Perform I'tikaf (spiritual retreat) in the Masjid during the last ten days if possible
Recite the dua taught by the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam): 'O Allah, You are the Pardoner and You love to pardon, so pardon me'
Increase Quran recitation, Salawat, Istighfar, and voluntary prayers throughout the night
Eid ul-Fitr — The Festival of Breaking the Fastعِيْدُ الْفِطْرِ
The blessed night of Eid ul-Fitr is referred to as Laylat al-Jaizah (the Night of Reward). On the morning of Eid, Allah sends His angels to every city where they stand at the end of every street and call out to the Ummah of Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam) to come to the court of their Beneficent Lord. Allah forgives those who gather for the Eid prayer and grants whatever they ask for concerning their Hereafter.
Eid Checklist
Pray throughout the night of Eid — one whose heart is alive on this night will not die when hearts die
Pay Sadaqat al-Fitr before the Eid prayer
Eat an odd number of dates before going to the Eid prayer
Recite Takbir on the way to the Eid prayer grounds
Take a different route going to and returning from the Eid prayer
Celebrate with gratitude, not extravagance — avoid wastefulness
