Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him) was born in Zul-Hijjah 8th Hijri in Madinah Munawwarah. When he was born, Sayyiduna Jibraeel Ameen (peace be upon him) came and greeted the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'O the respected father of Ibrahim (peace and blessings be upon him)! Salam be upon you!' The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Last night, my son was born. I have named him after my father, Ibrahim.'
