When Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him) was taking his last breaths, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was present, and tears streamed from his blessed eyes. When asked about this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: 'O Auf's son! This is mercy.' When tears streamed again, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Tears flow from the eyes; the heart is sad, but I say the same thing with which my Lord is pleased. O Ibrahim! Undoubtedly, I am grieved due to your separation.'
