After the demise of Sayyidatuna Ruqaiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah had commanded him to give his daughter Umm Kulthum to him in marriage. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) thus earned the title Dhul-Nurayn — the possessor of two lights — as the only man in history to have married two daughters of a Prophet.
