At approximately age 20, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) participated in Hilf-ul-Fudool — a pact of the virtuous in which prominent chiefs of Quraysh agreed to eradicate unrest, protect travellers, help the poor, support the oppressed, and hold cruel people to account. Even after the declaration of Prophethood, he would express joy upon participating in this agreement and said: 'I was so pleased that if someone had given me red camels in return I would not have felt as pleased. Even today, if an oppressed person calls me for help under this agreement, I am ready to help him.'
