The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out for Ta'if on foot, accompanied only by Sayyiduna Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him). The people of Ta'if rejected his call and set boys upon him to throw stones at his blessed feet, which bled so heavily that his blessed sandals were covered in blood. Years later, he (peace and blessings be upon him) told Sayyidatuna 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the day of Ta'if was even tougher than the day of the Battle of Uhud.
