When the blessed passing of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took place, not only humans and jinns but animals also became very sad. There was a donkey that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would often ride; it became anxious and grief-stricken and sacrificed its life by jumping into a well. There was also a special she-camel; unable to behold him, it gave up eating and drinking anything and died of hunger and thirst.
