Born 17th Rabi-ul-Awwal, 80 AH (some reports say 83 AH). Named Ja'far ibn Muhammad.

Attained the rank of Tabi'i by seeing Hadrat Anas ibn Malik (radi Allahu anhu) and Hadrat Sahl ibn Sa'd (radi Allahu anhu).
