Uwais al-Qarni

Uwais ibn Amir al-Qarni was a Yemeni Muslim who lived during the time of the Prophet Muhammad but never met him due to his devotion to caring for his elderly mother. Despite never meeting the Prophet, he was praised by name in an authentic hadith where the Prophet told Umar and Ali: 'If you meet Uwais al-Qarni, ask him to pray for your forgiveness.' He was known as the best of the Tabi'een (Successors). He participated in the Battle of Siffin (37 AH) on the side of Sayyiduna Ali and was martyred there.
